X-Men 3 - The Last Stand - Film Preview

X-Men 3
X-Men 3 - The Last Stand (from Wikipedia)
Not too long ago, I lamented on how comic books adapted to the silver screen have a nasty habit of being terrible.

Well, it's hard not to like the X-Men. The movies have stellar casts, the special effects are top notch, and the movies try to stay true to the original comic books. That's good.

Yeah, the movies come out a little cheesy, with the over-coolification of Wolverine, the nauseating make-up and boring hairstyles, and dialogue that doesn't translate well to film.

But I can still dig it!

I mean, how can you NOT love Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen facing off against each other?

How can you NOT enjoy watching beautiful actresses in tight uniforms using their magic powers to subdue and terrorize? I'd like to be restrained by Storm and Jean Grey at the same time. Who wouldn't?*

The latest installment, X-Men 3, looks promising as one of the few 'blockbusters' coming out this year to have a pulse...

I Watch Stuff has a trailer video of Wolverine going head-to-head with a Sentinel!

Have no idea what I just said? Oh, boy, maybe this flick isn't for you!

Or is it? The X-Men films are all notable for portraying vivid themes of xenophobia and individuality...themes that everyone can identify with on some level. Aren't we all a little like the X-Men?

I know I am.... I may not have adamantium claws, or telepathic powers, but at 87 kg, I'm slightly heavier than the average adult male, and I can mix rum cocktails pretty fast.

Someone get me a skintight uniform!

Good stuff Cibby. I'm a huge X-Men fan and not afraid to admit it. Storm and Jean Gray are hot. I mean... Wolverine and Cyclops.

don't be afraid to admit it Trina! X-men girls are hot!

I've always been confused by mystique, though.. is she just running around naked?

Yeah I think she's naked but covered in scales so that somehow tones down the nudity?

The link on objectifying Male Superheroe is hilarious. I don't think I'll ever be able to
look the Green Lantern in the face again!

*notes backpeddling* Cibby's a nerd after all.

Will someone please explain why they're still calling it "X-MEN" despite the fact that it's half women?

The reason Wolverine is overcoolised (was that the term - brilliant!) is because Hugh Jackman can't help it.

Cant remember all the terminology but I really hope a Sentinel is nothing like the Matrix version...

I love the first two X-Men movies but I have a feeling that this one might be crap since Bryan Singer dropped out. I'll wait and see I guess.

I'm not sure if Hugh Jackman is the best choice for Wolverine, though he is a damn good actor... I never knew he was Australian until recently.
