Walk Hard has the fake Beatles in it
December 12th 2007 22:21
Judd Apatow, fresh off the super-smash comedy hits The 40-year-old Virgin and Knocked Up, is summoning all his animal spirits to help him pump out as many films as possible.
This means jobs for his crew of disheveled banditos: the upcoming fake biopic, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, features John C. Reilly as a fake musician named Dewey Cox.
It'll probably poke fun at all the music-based biopics that have come out recently, showing the rise from the dust, the heady fame and glory, the ego-trips and the overbearing pretentiousness.
Of special note is the scene where Jack Black, Paul Rudd, Jason Schwartzman and Justin Long play the Fabulous Four, The Beatles. Is this a bad thing?
I'm not sold on those accents, which seem to get more preposterous as the scene goes on, but it is a fun scene with tongue-in-cheek humour. Would I laugh out loud in the theatre, though?
