Tom Cruise is Ironman

Look, we're all tired of these comic book adaptations.

Yes, V for Vendetta was amazing.

Yes, people are looking forward to X-Men 3 and Superman Returns, although I secretly think they'll both be big, stinking bombs.

I guess the studios realize that, no matter how shitty the movie, people will go see it because they want to see their favourite comic books brought to life.

The latest outrage is Ironman, rumoured to be played by Tom Cruise.

I'm in favour of this.

Ironman, in my honest opinion, is lame. What, he's got a suit? Big deal... he's like a clunky version of the Green Lantern, and he's so much less cooler than Batman.

So, putting Tom Cruise in the boots is a fitting casting choice. Plus, they can put lifts in the suit so Cruisy appears taller.

Did you know: in Tom Cruise movies, they hire short extras to make Tom-boy look taller? I might be making this up, or I heard it from a third-hand source, but it sure does explain a lot. Eat that placenta, Tom!

I've never seen an Ironman comic, not being a big comic book fan. But I'd like to see Tom playing a real triathlon Ironman. (And that doesn't include the weak Nutrigrain immitation which takes like 15 minutes. Please, don't make me laugh. Yes I find it annoying

The Ironman Triathlon:

3.86 km open water swim;
180.2 km road cycle;
42.2 km run (a marathon).

It takes the absolute elite competitors eight grueling hours. Most people take at least ten to twelve.

Now that would be entertaining to watch to act!

ed: those nutrigrain bars suck. They don't fill me up with anything.

Blight, good to see you here!

I'm sure Tom Cruise will have his face showing for most of the movie....

Yeah remember when Stallone played Judge Dredd... you're never meant to see Dredd's face and they broke the number 1 rule for his ego!

Having said that, I must be the only person left who is actually a big fan of Cruise. Fair enough he's a bit of cockjob off the screen, but I think he's a great actor.

Cibby - I'd also heard that about Tom Cruise, the hiring small actors thing! I'd also heard there is a lot of use of small crates and other height inflating devices on his sets.

For some reason, and I can't quite put my finger on it, Tom Cruise irritates the hell out of me! Maybe it's the millions in the bank, maybe the succession of poor films that have made him a mega-star, maybe the sexy chick, maybe even the newborn baby? Hmmm - but at least he is short...

chi chi, I never heard THAT.... short extras is one thing, but small crates? Hilarious!

What's next? Tiny tubes of toothpaste? Buying clothes from kiddie stores?

Luke, you're entitiled to your opinion... but really? A great actor?

Let's face it..Tom Cruise was the biggest movie star in the world, years before the whole Brooke Shields/Oprah incident. However, his public views about Scientology have done little to boost his flagging popularity - maybe he should have been less vocal about about Scientology, like John Travolta. I think his performances in Born on the Fourth of July and Jerry Maguire solidified his position as a great actor. Its the opinion of many critics and fans that his acting scope in recent years has been scaled down whilst his pay grade has been dramatically scaled up.
