While films about exorcism and exorcists always capture cinemagoers’ imaginations, not one has ever come close to matching the power of the big daddy: The Exorcist. Much of that film’s impact is down to shock and brilliant special effects, but The Exorcist’s true power comes from the fact that it’s actually interested in the characters it portrays, particularly Father Karras and his epic struggle with his own faith. People love it, not because they’re masochists, but because they can identify with those they see onscreen. The latest flick to follow in the footsteps of the 1973 classic is The Last Exorcism, a mockumentary-style recounting of Reverend Cotton Marcus’s final dance with the devil before his retirement. Hopscotch are in charge of distributing the film throughout Australia and have been amping up the marketing in anticipation of the November 25 release date, unleashing a great little trailer – included below – and now providing a seemingly innocuous game to tickle your fancy while you find anything to do at work other than those ridiculous TPS reports. Play the game here – just make sure you have sound. It doesn’t involve anything rude, but don’t blame me if you spill coffee all over yourself through sheer concentration.
