The first post on Und So Weite

Und So Weite is a new category that I'll be adding to 20/20 Filmsight, a pool of essays on reviewed movies that go beyond the review.
Often, I'm torn when writing a review; I'm trying to entice the reader who hasn't yet seen the film to make the effort, but, at the same time, I'm usually excited to discuss aspects of the movie. It's a fine line, and I usually just hint at spoilers.
With this category, though, I aim to really dive into the movies that I think about in the midnight hour. In order to do this, there will necessarily be spoilers a-plenty.
The name 'Und So Weite' is German for 'and so on'... I took an elementary German class in high school, and the teacher, Herr Wuhrmann, would say it often, usually after the list of nouns that we had to memorize.
He didn't like Pink Floyd, but he had a vintage poster from "The Wall" because he felt the imagery in the movie reflected our lives well. He went on, one day, describing in detail, how we're all building walls around us, even to protect ourselves from the people that are close to us. An uplifting and motivational lecture...
