Pinning murder on the Executive Koala
December 3rd 2008 01:00
Who said anything about this movie making sense? Minoru Kawasaki's absurdist comedy defies conventional logic as it tells the tale of a high-powered koala who finds his human girlfriend murdered one day. It's called "Executive Koala" - but there's also a giant bunny head in the film, pictured above.
Complaints about bestiality aside, this promises to be one of the stranger screenings at the Japanese Film Festival, with the director arriving in Sydney to hold a little Q&A after the film.
Yes - you can ask him: why koalas? Why an executive? Who would put this much work and effort into a laughable, ridiculous movie?
All good questions, but ones that must be held until Sunday, December 7th. "Executive Koala" will be waiting for you with a fistful of eucalyptus leaves and steely black eyes.
