Mr. Bean's Vacation Trailer
December 4th 2006 18:07
No matter where I go in the world, they've got Mr. Bean playing on TV.
And in airports. And in TV rental places. And anywhere else that there's a need to entertain people.
Mr. Bean is a fanastic character performed by English comedian Rowan Atkinson and is, in some ways, a perfectly human comedy, with the slapstick humour translating into nearly every culture.
There was a movie, and it disappointed many, though it had some good moments. It tried too hard to reach out to the American family demographic, which made Bean much more real, and therefore, irritating.
The appeal of Bean is, for Canadians, I think, that he's English and weird. I mean, he's just polite enough in public, but will turn sinister when he thinks no one is looking. Combine the fact that he doesn't really speak and seems to be on some sort of amphetamine/magic mushroom concoction all the time, and you have a winner.

...the other day I had the good grace to be able to meet a very high ranking official and all day all I could think of was that stupid Bean sketch where he is waiting to meet the Queen...I was praying I wasn't the one to head butt her out cold*lol*
Need I add that this looks good and I can't wait if it's a new film...?

Actually, I couldn't stand Johnny English. Did you like it? It seemed so horribly predictable...

Erm, it's interesting to note that everytime Johnny has one of his uphimself moments he screws up, like when he's got the hold up at the hospital 'direct me to your evil pay master', or when he accidently trips up his partner 'and like a coiled viper, he strikes', or at the restaraunt 'it's a personal faveourite of mine', all those lines are followed by him stuffing up.

You are right, I think this one will be so much funnier and more unpredictable, for sure...

Yes, I remember hiring out all the Bean videos when I was a kid. I love the intro music to each of the episodes, and how he just lands down on the spotlight.

I finally saw it today, for real. All the kids picked this. Personally I thought it was not abig screen [$10] deal... I wanted to go and see TMNT... but was out-voted!
So Bean it was...
Not predictable, not hillarious, but VERY FUNNY and certainly a most enjoyable afternoon, well spent.
I enjoyed it and think it is worth seeing, unless this character makes you cringe... as he is wont to do, from time to time. However, not so much so in this because he is a tourist in a strange country where he doesn't speak the language... many places for natural mishaps - even for the not-so-clumsy *chuckle* and a great peek at the conceited ego of some filmakers... perhaps?
Lilla ...
