Mother of Tears to be released on June 6
May 18th 2008 23:45
It's been a long time coming, but, finally, horror fans will get the last film in The Three Mothers Trilogy.
Of course, I refer to the films by Dario Argento, which include "Suspiria", "Inferno" and "Mother of Tears"; the latter will be released on June 6 in this fine year of 2008.
Sadly, I've only seen "Suspiria", but it was such a candy-coloured delight to watch that I'm keen to see the second film on DVD, and the latest one on release. If it comes to Australian theatres. Any chance?
The above image of the latest movie is from a Guardian Film Blog post by Tony O'Neill, who suggests that horror fans examine Argento's earlier works in the giallo genre. "The Bird with the Crystal Plumage" is Argento's well-known murder mystery, but O'Neill also recommends "Four Flies on Grey Velvet" and "The Cat O'Nine Tails", as well as work by Lucio Fulci and Mario Bava.
Hey, I'm down. Let's screen them all back-to-back, until we stumble out of the theatre, groggy and moaning as the rising sun scorches our skin. Enough giallo mysteries and it'll seem completely normal to see artificial blood running down the street.

bryn, wow, extensive collection. After Deep Red and Suspiria, what would be your next few favourites from Argento?
what festival could it come in? Dunno... isn't there a horror festival at the end of the year?

Have you ever reviewed a film called The Bank Job? i think it should get some Orble support because it is Australian and I know one of the producers. Nepotism ROCKS!!

bryn, er... I don't remember when it was. I think it happened in Newtown - and I think I sent you a message about it?
JD, I believe June 6 is the American release date.
Here's the trailer... while it's not a great trailer, I'm definitely interested in watching this!
