Make a short clip to play in the upcoming Watchmen movie!
June 25th 2008 23:18
According to the Watchmen website, the highly anticipated comic book adaptation will hit cinemas in March 2009.
That's a long, long ways away, so director Zack Snyder and gang are giving movieheads a chance to be in the film. Paramount Studios is accepting submissions for a competition, where fans make a fake 80s clip, that'll play on the television in the film.
From the press release:
Watch Zack Snyder talk about the competition and the filming!
The prizes are pretty insignificant - signed stills or something - but apparently, they'll put you in the movie, as well. Hopefully as one of the insane asylum patients, fleeing the hospital, flecks of foam flying from your mouth.
I'm skeptical about this film, but the initial photos and word of mouth have been very good, forcing me to grudgingly look forward to it. Ah, hell... you know I'll watch it, anyway...
Of course, if you don't know anything about Watchmen, I strongly recommend you read the original comic book series, written by Alan Moore and illustrated by Dave Gibbons.

From the press release:
"To get started, download the standard definition and/or high definition assets from the competition site, and then shoot your own original TV commercial that advertises one of the products! Remember, the movie is set in 1985, so TV commercials should be in 4:3 aspect ratio (so it looks like standard TV, not widescreen) and they should be either 15, 30 or 60 seconds in length. The products are all made by "Veidt Enterprises," and you can download the product logos for your use as well. "

I saw the trailer for Watchmen when I saw Dark Knight. I am very excited about this movie. Hopefully it will deliver.

I can't wait to read what you think. I thought it was wonderful. Citizen Kane with superheroes.
