Kevin Smith and Superman Returns

Kevin Smith, director of Mallrats and Clerks, is a notable comic book fan and was approached to write the screenplay of Superman Returns. Here's a video of him recounting the Superman Returns fiasco, which, hilariously, involved polar bears, giant mechanical spiders and a robot with the voice of a gay, black man.
Kevin Smith is a great public speaker, making his conversation with producer Jon Peters seem like stills from a Seinfeld comic book. With his enthusiasm for Superman, and his experience in the comic-book industry, it's a shame that his script was yanked.
Perhaps someone will pull it out of the bin, blow the roackes off it and think about filming it...
