In 1969 with John Lennon: I Met the Walrus
July 7th 2008 23:12
I was thrilled this morning to find this incredible video on Fazed... it's an animated short that couples beautifully surreal visuals with the audio recording of a guerilla interview with John Lennon, by then-14-year-old Jerry Levitan.
It spins and spirals, but Lennon's voice, with his comforting accent and pleas for peace seem accentuated into blissful scripture by the addition of the mesmerizing visuals.
A hypnotic, breathtaking animation, powerfully coupled to words. How many more speeches could be heightened with this type of video?
Perhaps there's still some bad blood over John Lennon, especially in this time of feverish patriotism and war-mongering... to those of us that feel the war in the Middle East is unnecessary and corrupt, Lennon's words ring out true, despite the fact that he said them almost 40 years ago.
