Halle Berry on Swordfish Nudity
March 23rd 2007 01:04
There was quite a bit of excitement in the air when news leaked out that Halle Berry would be naked for a scene in Swordfish, a dull espionage movie featuring John Travolta as a super-villain and Hugh Jackman as a good-looking hacker.
Previous to the release of the movie, Halle Berry was, in my opinion, the sexiest actress in Hollywood. Even when she was a crackhead in Jungle Fever, my loins jumped at the sight of her disheveled hair.
Nudity seemed like a gift from the Greek Gods, bestowed upon us for a lifetime of struggle and conflict. At last, we'd have our revenge.
Swordfish is a terrible movie, with laughable 'hacking' scenes, outrageous scenes that were excuses for big budget action sequences, and dialogue that read like the back of a cereal box. The only saving grace was Berry strutting around in the various dresses and short skirt, reminding us what slaves we men are to the image of a woman.
The actual nude scene was an incredible disappointment, though. It did not titillate or arouse, and was so obviously forced into the movie that it jarred the viewer. The human body can be mesmerizing to watch on film, and this was such a hackneyed attempt to increase hype and attention to an otherwise forgettable film.
Ironically, Berry calls the nude scene in Swordfish one of the most important moments in her career..
"That was one of the things that drew me toward it. It gave me a chance to face this thing called nudity that I was afraid of"
While I can understand what she's getting at, as she received an Oscar for a dirty little film called Monster's Ball, but it seems ridiculous in the context of THAT scene being in THAT movie.
For your amusement, here's one of the ludicrous 'hacking' scenes in Swordfish.

If you really wanna see Halle in action you gotta watch Monster's Ball .... one of those infamous "are they really doing it?" sex scenes .... y'know, like Betty Blue, Postman Always Rings Twice, Don't Look Now, Wild Orchid ...
I think Halle, Salma and maybe Jessica Biel have the best tits in Hollywood ... but its arguable.
