George Lucas is all about the Star Wars TV
September 24th 2007 22:08
George Lucas has already stated that there would be no more movies from Lucasfilm, which means that we'll never get the Episodes VII, VIII and IX, which is too bad, because Star Wars IX:Jedi Rampage has a nice ring to it(I made that up).
Of course, purists are thankful that he's stopped the carnage after the visionless prequels.
Still, Lucas knows how the wring the last few cents from the damp hankerchief of a Star Wars fanboy... he's planning to move Star Wars to the television screen, with the idea of spinning off franchise after franchise, much like Star Trek abused their fans.
What Lucas said:
Do you know what he said? I couldn't get through it.

What Lucas said:
"Well it's basically like Star Wars [in that it] takes place between, obviously, [the films] Episode II [Attack of the Clones] and Episode III [Revenge of the Sith], but it's the same kind of action. Unfortunately, it doesn't fall into the realm of what animation [typically] is, which is either adult, kind of off-color humor or kiddie stuff.
This is, like Star Wars, sort of in between those two things. It's a lot of battle stuff, and it's obviously the Clone Wars, so it's a war picture. So it's kind of a PG-13 animated TV series, which is something that has never been done before and obviously doesn't fit in any of the conventional slots that these things fall into. In that, it's very different, and I think it's very exciting. It's got a very, very sophisticated look to it. It's very much like the features. We're still trying to figure out how to put it on the air."

For whom the CGI Bell Tolls? It does not toll for me.

I hope we won't see the Star Wars franchise run completely into the ground like the poor old Star Trek franchise did.

Anyways, purists are hopeless delusional nuts, they speak of some of the most inane things, stuff about 'defence level training' and whatnot, I don't get any of it much less do I care.
So just because the light saber Anakin has is a quater of an inch longer than what it should be it turns the entire Star Wars prequels into a bastardation of the star wars universe. At elast thats what the purists would have you think.

Some don't even consider the 3 abomination that are the prequels part of the Star Wars family.
The 'Purists' are happy with just the Original Trilogies.
And this interview by GL do not exist to Purists.

What a travesty. I will keep the trilogy intact and in my heart. I will ignore the interview and anything else Star War esque. Just how much money does George need ? Why doesn't he put his efforts into something original?

I can't believe I'm about to say this, but some would say that Star Wars is about the only original thing he ever did. And even that original film was a Kurosawa ripoff.
Sucha shame from someone who started out so promising with THX1138 and American Graffiti.
Now we end up with Trek Wars. As an old-school fan, I say grrr...
