First images of Burton's Wonderland
June 26th 2009 13:02
Disney has released the first images of Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland, due to hit cinemas in 2010.
The story will follow Alice, as a 17 year old, returning to Wonderland for the second time. She has no recollection of her first visit to the strange world. In the real world Alice attends a party where she is proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty aristocrats. She runs off, following the white rabbit back to Wonderland.
This is Helena Bonham Carter with a freakishly over-sized head. Helena (Burton's partner) is known for her crazy hair, but it seems she has out-done herself this time. The heart-shaped lipstick is a nice touch.
Johnny Depp is barely recognisable as The Mad Hatter. Fans may have been expecting a more gothic look. The costume and make-up is not entirely disappointing but many were anticipating something darker.
Little known Australian actress Mia Wasikowska plays the role of Alice.

"We met a lot of people, but she just had that certain kind of emotional toughness, standing her ground in a way that makes her kind of an older person but with a younger person's mentality."

it really is a timeless story with so many great metaphors and such vivid imagery to work with
hi Etienne Celibataire,
they are both very eccentric and very talented, i love when all three of them collaborate

I like the costumes and makeup, there is still something "scared of a clown" dark about the manic players.
Burton has let me down in the past but i hope this matches his eccentric moods and we get a gem.
