The Coen Bros'
June 2nd 2008 23:16
The next film from the Coen brothers is a return to the absurd, dark comedy that they've built their careers on. Between "Fargo" and "The Big Lebowski", the Coen's stand out as our generation's finest humourists.
It's called "Burn After Reading", and it mashes frantic fitness trainers with grim CIA secrecy, exactly the kind of juxtaposition that made "The Big Lebowski" a sleeper hit.
The cast is all-around stellar, with Frances MacDormand, George Clooney, Tilda Swinton and Brad Pitt. Brad Pitt still does movies? The trailer for the movie is an excellent tease, getting audiences all riled up for the mid-2008 release:
Ooh! That punch to Brad Pitt's face must've been very satisfying to film. I wonder how many takes they did of that?
Wikipedia notes that this film does not feature long-time Coen Bros collaborator, Roger Deakins, famed cinematographer. I believe I read that Deakins moved onto his own project, taking up the director's beret himself.

Roger Deakins has been such an integral part of their team for so long now but Emmanuel Lubezki is an amazing cinematographer in his own right, they won't be losing too much there.
