Barack Obama "Yes. We. Can." Music Video
February 17th 2008 22:13
Normally, I'd keep my head out of American politics, with its massively confusing electoral system and the sheer noise that comes out of the media there - but this election has me fired up in a way that I haven't felt for a long time.
Barack Obama is a leading contender for the Democratic nomination, making Hillary Clinton look like Yesterday's Jam - he's supercharging voters, especially young voters, to come out and make their selection.
And why not? He's confident, appears to bring honesty and integrity to the position, and, most importantly, he electrifies audiences when he speaks.
Presidential hopefuls love to use music to advance their cause, and Clinton's sad, nauseating addition to this genre is this video, which I won't post here.
Instead, look at Will.I.Am's music video for Obama - with the help of good-looking celebrities, he makes a video that inspires hope and pulls at your heartstrings. Watch it and try not to run out to the voting station right this minute:

The difference between those two clips sums up their two campaigns though. Obama's campaign, despite being the "novice", has a much slicker feel to it.

I've been voting since NIxon v. McGovern, and that video is so stirring it's hard not to run out to vote, no wait - that would be November....
This is a difficult election time, a lot of us remember a much better economy under a Clinton, and diplomacy with dignity with other nations as well.... then there's this (youngish) man with such a way with words, and hope... then there's John McCain, who is a genuine war hero and honorable person (unlike someone who couldn't be bothered to show up for his med exams while in the service (stateside) and who disgustingly disparaged McCain during the primaries eight years ago)...
...so, you gonna move to the States so you can vote?

I don't know much about the election process, but there seems to be a lot of smoke. I had planned to ignore it all, until people started posting these Obama videos. They're addictive.
As for Clinton, while I liked ol' Bill, I don't particularly like Hillary - the articles I've read about her make her seem like one of the old guard, linked with lobbyists, etc.
And John McCain - I saw him make that joke about Bomb Iran, and I didn't like that at all!
Anyway, I suppose it's good that I'm not American, otherwise I'd be making an uneducated vote!
Still, I'm loving the Obama videos...

These guys are serious.
Could any imagine singing along to speech from John Howard or Kevin Rudd?
I think that I need to turn off the television until after the USA election.

If I had to vote for the next President of US by these video's ... it would no doubt go to Obama's camp directly, particularly after that fluffy sugar-coated floss Hillary is offering.
I think it's down to Black vs Female ... there's the change, either way... and like here, I hope that includes some 'real' leadership abilitires and decisions that count as much as the soul depicted in this one video.
going to get tissues...

It really seems that both of the Democratic candidates have the potential and desire to yank the USA back onto the straight and narrow. And McCain also seems a damn sight better than the current President. Whatever happens, it will be a welcome change. America (and the world) needs a breath of fresh air.
