Argument Clinic - Monty Python

September 14th 2006 18:34
With the release of Spamalot on Broadway, and the Monty Python crew getting fresh in everyone's mind again, here's a clip from their infamous TV series, Monty Python's Flying Circus:

Personally, I found Monty Python skits a little difficult to sit through at times, but the five Pythons were a fantastic match of unique wits and different personalities.

I first watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail in Grade 7 in middle school. As a part of a class - how good was school in those days?

When the Black Knight gets cuts into pieces, I laughed so hard I thought my teeth would fall out and I'd choke on them.

When the animator had a heart attack, I thought it was a brilliant way to kill a monster. I dreamed of being trapped in that castle with all those libidinous women, and not being chaste.

Well, the Pythons have aged tremendously, with Graham Chapman being dead for over 10 years... but thanks to YouTube, those 70s haircuts are immortalized...

At the moment I'm progressively moving my way through the episodes of Monty Python's Flying Circus. They're are forty five and at close to half an hour each, that's alot of watching, but damn they're hilarious. I reckon it's pretty interesting how key lines from the sketches have been extracted by people over the years and used to the point that when you the sketch itself, it somehow doesn't have the same meaning as the skewed one created by audiences everywhere.

Hoorah for the Python Crew, The argument clinic is one of my favourite classic skits they have contributed to the world of comedy..

Terry Gilliam (fear and Loathing, Brazil, Jabberwocky, Time Bandits)is one of my fave Directors and a uniquely gifted comedian/cartoonist.

There's nothing like a fresh bite of Monty Python for a hungry world.

Terry Gilliam is incredible...

I'm glad they broke up the Pythons, though, so we could enjoy the Flying Circus as a pleasant memory..
