An experimental short based on one atrocious scene from Full House
April 2nd 2008 21:38
Yeah, I used to watch Full House. I blame inner-city crime and a failing education system for pushing me down that dark alleyway.
Now, of course, I feel nothing but remorse.... remorse like an Atkins dieter, found passed out on the floor, mashed potatoes smeared all over their face.
Full House, for those of you who don't know, was an awfully predictable, saccharine sitcom that had Bob Saget as the single father of three young girls. As this was the 80s, and men were expected to be terrible at raising children, he enlisted the help of his brother-in-law, played by John Stamos, and his best friend, Dave Coultier. Yes, it was a little homoerotic, as well.
These were the illusionary days when Uncle Jesse was cool and Uncle Joey was funny, when characters came with catchphrases and "Cut-It-Out" was something you practiced in the mirror so that you could effortlessly drop it at recess.
But, then again, I also practiced "2-Legit-2-Quit". Maybe there's something wrong with me.
It was a terrible TV series, an absolute low in terms of comedy. The emotional 'crisis' that inevitable occured in each show was miraculously resolved in the half-hour, accompanied by hugs and awful jokes.
Some clever fox decided to use the sticky cheesiness of Full House and remake it into something surreal. One scene from Full House, repeated over and over, by different actors in different scenes.
From Spout blog:
"Just to give you what little background on this video is known (or needs to be known): it took artist Paul Slocum three years to make, and all of those actors reenacting the scene were paid. I’d love to find out if some kind of grant funded the project, because the endower surely needs a medal."
Also, in a little aside: the show also had Lori Loughlin as the eye-candy, but, back when I was a kid, I didn't like her at all. Look at the top image - too severe, too much makeup.
These days, though, she's looking like this. Great hair, great smile. She's getting more attractive as she ages.
Of course, Lori Loughlin was in the most infamous of movie scenes, the fantastic cinematic experience of the dance scene in "Rad". Please watch it - you won't be disappointed.

Joanne, I can't believe the guy spent three years doing it. I find it strangely amusing, though.
aimzster, Jesse is definitely not cool. I remember when he married Rebecca Romijin and we were all like 'why?'

I did have a massive crush on Candice Cameron's (the eldest sister) older brother, Kirk Cameron. Yes, Full House was crap, but Growing Pains.......well that was quality right there!

Yes Kylie, they were ugly, I realised that at the time, but I didn't realise the rest of them were too - or maybe it is just their shirts in that pic. Check out the shirts! Nightmare.
I don't get the inspiration for three years of working on that short.

Don't worry Cibb I am with you 200% of the way, I HATED this damn show so much. I hated this stupid "family love" bullshit in it and how everything seemed to be resolved with a hug and an "AAAWWWWWW!!!" from the audience.
Those little punks got away with freakin' murder! I bet if one of them came up to Bob Saget on the show and told him that she had sex with 20 different guys in the past week and that she was pregnant, he'd probably pat her on the head and forgive her.
Thank you Cibb, you've re-ignited my hatred for this show and for every other show out there that pissed me off growing up.

I can't believe I'm admitting I ever watched it, it was so God awful. I really hope this guy didn't use grant money for this.
I agree with Kylie, the Olsen twins were ugly little goblin babies!
